Terms of Use

1. Agreement

By using Dictionaryish, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Dictionaryish is operated by Dictionaryish LLC.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use account features. Reading Dictionaryish does not require an account. Sixteen is the single limit we apply everywhere; where the law where you live sets a higher age or requires parental consent, that rule applies instead.

3. Accounts

Provide accurate account information, protect your password and session, and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account to the extent allowed by law.

We may require email verification and may limit, suspend, or close accounts that violate these Terms, threaten the service, or appear compromised.

4. The service

Dictionaryish provides editorial, educational, cultural, and entertainment material, including definitions, quotations and perspectives, humor, trivia, memes, artifacts, lists, and topic-based exploration.

The service changes over time. Features may be added, removed, interrupted, or offered only to certain users. We do not promise that every item is accurate, complete, current, available, or suitable for a particular purpose. Dictionaryish is not professional legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

Adult material. Dictionaryish is a record of how people actually talk, and some of what it records is crude, profane, or sexual. Material of that kind is hidden by default and shown only after you choose to see it, using the visibility control in the site’s menu. That choice is remembered in your browser until you change it. Choosing to show adult material is a statement that you are content to see it.

5. Your content and activity

Accounts on Dictionaryish do not publish to the site. The definitions, quotations, humor and other editorial material here are written and published by us. What an account gives you is a way to read: you can love a card, archive it, gather lists, follow topics and authors, and set your own preferences. Those are product interactions. They are private to you, they transfer no ownership of anything, and they are described in the Privacy Policy.

If you write to us — a correction, a question, a report — we receive what you send and may act on it, including by correcting the site. We do not claim ownership of your message.

Should Dictionaryish later invite readers to submit material for publication, these Terms will be revised before that happens, and the revision will set out plainly what rights you keep, what licence you grant, and what becomes of published work if you close your account. We are not asking you to agree in advance to terms for something that does not yet exist.

6. Acceptable use

Do not:

• break the law or encourage unlawful conduct;
• harass, threaten, impersonate, or exploit others;
• upload malware or interfere with the service;
• probe, bypass, or defeat authentication, rate limits, authorization, or security controls;
• scrape, copy, or automate access in a manner that burdens the service or violates applicable law, except as expressly permitted in writing;
• submit spam, deceptive material, or content you lack the right to use;
• misuse sharing or publishing tools to imply that Dictionaryish or a third party endorsed something it did not;
• use Dictionaryish content, data, or systems to train or populate a competing service where doing so violates our rights or applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

Dictionaryish’s software, design, branding, organization, and original editorial material are owned by Dictionaryish LLC or licensed to it and are protected by applicable law.

Dictionaryish also contains third-party and public-domain material. Attribution or inclusion does not necessarily mean that Dictionaryish owns that underlying material or endorses its source. If you believe material infringes your rights, contact admin@dictionaryish.com with enough detail for us to identify and review it.

Dictionaryish LLC has registered a designated agent with the United States Copyright Office to receive notices of claimed infringement under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c), registration number DMCA-1080447: Copyright Agent, Dictionaryish LLC, admin@dictionaryish.com; postal details as filed are in the Copyright Office’s public directory. 8. Sharing and third-party platforms

Dictionaryish may generate images and suggested captions for sharing. You control whether and where to share them and are responsible for reviewing the final content. Third-party platforms have their own terms and policies.

Authorized administrators may publish Dictionaryish material to official Dictionaryish social accounts. A preview, test, or dry-run message does not mean a post was published unless the interface clearly confirms a live result.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these Terms.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Dictionaryish at any time. To request account deletion, email admin@dictionaryish.com from the address associated with your account; we may take reasonable steps to verify the request. Deleting your account deletes everything we hold about you, as the Privacy Policy describes.

We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect users, comply with law, enforce these Terms, address security or abuse, or operate the service. Where appropriate, we may provide notice or an opportunity to appeal.

11. Disclaimers

To the extent allowed by law, Dictionaryish is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, Dictionaryish LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the service.

Dictionaryish is provided free of charge. To the extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to one hundred United States dollars. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under mandatory consumer protections where you live.

13. Indemnity

To the extent allowed by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Dictionaryish LLC from claims arising from your submitted content, your unlawful misuse of Dictionaryish, or your material violation of these Terms. This does not apply where prohibited by consumer law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Before starting a formal claim, please write to admin@dictionaryish.com and describe the problem. Most things can be settled that way, and we will make a genuine attempt to. If that fails, the state and federal courts of Fulton County, Georgia will have jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim somewhere else. There is no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver in these Terms.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms as the service changes. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice where a change is material or law requires it. Continued use after the effective date of revised Terms means you accept them to the extent permitted by law.
