Dr. Seuss wrote 'Green Eggs and Ham' after he was dared to write a book using less than 50 different words.

Dr. Seuss only became a doctor when granted an honorary doctorate by Dartmouth, in 1956. He added " Dr. " to his pen name because his father always wanted him to practice medicine.

Dr. Seuss drew anti-Japanese cartoons during WWII and later wrote Horton Hear's a Who as an apology, dedicating it to a Japanese friend.
