In 1944 the lights in the crown flashed “dot-dot-dot-dash” which in the Morse code means V, for Victory in Europe.

Morse Code was invented by Samuel Morse after he left for a trip and returned home after receiving a letter about his pregnant wife's health that had been sent days prior, only to find his wife had already died and been burried.

Thomas Edison proposed to his future wife in morse code, she accepted in the same way.
