Congressman Charles Stenholm (Texas): The difference between the parties is that the Democrats believe that there's a place for government. Our problem in the Democratic party is that we've let a very strong liberal minority take control. I want the Democrats to be a party with a social conscience but business common sense. The Republicans are antigovemment. They believe that no government is the solution. I strongly disagree with that. A strong vocal minority within the GOP controls their agenda, which tends to believe in no government. 31
