There is, however, a group of Afro-pessimist who perceive Africans an irredeemably problematic continent, which should either be re-colonized(Onwudiwe, n.d.) or, at best, be left to carry its own burden (see e.g. Kaplan, 1994).The predominantly negative image that the western media have created about Africa(Hammond and Jablow, 1970... Hawk, 1992) discourages investment, hence limiting itscompetitiveness in global markets (Onwudiwe, n.d.).
