Quandary ethics is the wrongheaded idea that kindness, friendship, and simply being nice are solutions to conundrums. In fact they are questions of existence-questions about what kind of people we are and wish to be.

Race is not physical or biological but social. It is dangerous because somatic markers are taken as other kinds of difference which precede and justify prejudice.

Racial prejudice is a deformation of rationality in individuals whose racism is not 'only' grounded in certain wrongheaded (and thus correctable) propositions about race.

Racialism is the philosophical position that races exist and collective difference existed between such categories. As a doctrine, it is not in itself dangerous, even if the racial essence is thought to entail moral and intellectual dispositions. Provided positive moral qualities are distributed across the races, each can be respected, can have its 'separate but equal' place.

Same-sex marriage is a matter of dignity just as all marriage is a matter of dignity, and just as all marriage is constitutionally protected as a matter of dignity.
