Phenomenology designates neither the 'object matter' nor the 'subject matter' of its study. For the Greeks (and Heidegger as well) truth (aletheia) means perceivingi.e., the sheer sensory perception of something as true [ref. 7, page 57]. This can be contrasted with Heidegger's definition of appearance, as denoting a relationship between phenomena, which is always based on a referral of some kind or another. (munday)
