is an ideology predicated on the idea of making everything substitutable for everything (not only goods, but bodies, actions, ideas, knowledge, fantasies, images).

The tendency of capitalism is to substitute for fixed and limiting relations between men and things an abstract unit of equivalence that allows free exchange and the aleatory substitution, of everything for everything. Not only are equivalences established between goods in an open market, but bodies, actions, ideas, knowledge, fantasies, images function as commodities which can be translated into other commodities.
