A Changeling (n.) is ⁠​‌​​​‌​​​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​​‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌​​​‌‌​‌‌​⁠a being between man and beast — and "changeling" is as good a name for it as "man" and "beast" are for each other.

A Changeling (n.) has ⁠​‌​​​‌​​​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​​‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌​​​‌‌​‌‌​⁠inner springs different from a rational man's, and a frame different from a drill's, but whether either difference is essential is known only by agreement with the idea the name man stands for.
