figure of speech, n.All

A Figure of speech (n.) the ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌dream takes literally: 'hurling invectives' becomes a servant girl hurling a chimpanzee and an angora cat.

A Figure of speech (n.) seems ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌freely chosen, but the man who kept saying “if something suddenly shoots through one's head” had just heard a Russian bullet had passed through his son's cap.

Figure of speech (n.) give ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌the separate-ego illusion away: we "came into this world," we must "face reality," we talk of "the conquest of nature."
