iamb, n.All

The Iamb (n.) began ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌as the lampooning measure — the one in which people lampooned one another.

The Iamb (n.) is ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌the most colloquial of meters: ordinary conversation falls into iambic lines more often than into any other verse.
