This binary, she argues, stems fom a discredited, hierarchical colonial structure' (Clifford 1997:77) . . . . . . 'Narayan shows how 'native' researchers are complexly and multily located vis-a-vis their worksites and interlocutors. 'Native' anthropologist -like all anthropologist, Narayan argues 'belong to several communities simultaneously (not least of all the community we were born into and the community of professional academics)' (Narayan 1993:24).
