news filter, n.All

A News filter (n.) needs ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌no commissar, yet the result is the same as if one had ordered: mourn the victims of enemy powers, forget the victims of friends.

A News filter (n.) is ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌one of five sieves — ownership, advertising, sourcing, flak and anticommunism — through which the raw material of news must pass, leaving only the cleansed residue fit to print.
