is incoherent and nonsensical insofar as charges of so-called reverse racism are firstly an acknowledgement that racism exist, secondly that racism does harm, and thirdly, insofar as charges of 'reverse racism' are typically leveled in response to some project, policy, practice by a suppressed people to make the system more equitable, these charges reflect not the experiencing of being on the receiving end of racism, but rather reflect a desire by a privileged group to maintain a privileged status 

This now brings us full-circle back to the issue of causality and the fact that the Global North is engaged in Environmental Racism against the Global South. Racism does not require that the person or group responsible for the discrimination be conscious or cognizant of the thoughts or practices they are engaged in that is causing harm to others. Furthermore, racism requires a system of hierarchical power that stratifies and relegates particular groups of people to positions of inferiority. There is no such thing as Reverse Racism and the very term is repugnant. Anyone who argues that reverse racism is a thing first and foremost acknowledges that racism exist. The second thing they acknowledge is that it does cause harm, and this is revealed by the fact that they do not want racism done to them because of its harmful characteristics. And third, it acknowledges that they do not want to do anything to change the impacts of racism because the argument is usually made in response to a suppressed people or their allies promoting some project, policy, practice, or legislation to make the system more equitable. A person who benefits from the hierarchical system of power that stratifies and relegates particular groups to positions of inferiority does not need to be cognizant of the benefit they receive from the system to benefit from it. This is White Privilege and as Sarra Tekola has put it, Climate Change Denial is a 'white privilege' because they do not have to be conscious and cognizant of the impacts of climate change, given that they are not in the Global South.

is a contradiction in terms because extreme prejudice is necessarily accompanied by the power of society's approval and legislation. While women and poor people of color may become intolerant, personally abusive, even hateful, they do not have enough power to be racist or sexist.

It is an absolute impossibility in this society to reversely sexually objectify heterosexual men, just as it is impossible for a poor person of color to be a racist. Such extreme prejudice must be accompanied by the power of society's approval and legislation. is a fully incoherent notion -- racism is a system of power and in the absence of power one simply cannot be considered a racist.

is definitely a thing. To say it is not is similar to saying that the word 'murder' is only to be used for when a white person kills a black person. You can't change the underlying ethical status of an action by redefining it.

Interviewer: I was gonna ask cuz I've heard people say there's no such thing as a reverse racism Hughes: Yes that I mean that is the most I mean that imagine we like you could do this with any word you could you could read it let's just redefine the word murder to only mean when you kill a black person we could do that we could decide we could just decide to come up with a different word but you can't change the underlying ethical status of an action by redefining it right like racism what do you just call it something else it's still just as bad as it was yesterday when you change the terminology so yeah this is an incredibly silly thing that's been done with that word yeah and it's having terrible consequences for our politics
