She notes that after Bruner “when we invent the possible worlds of fiction, we never really leave the universe which is familiar to us” (02, p. 82); in comparison, she reminds the reader that, for Bachelard, scientific thought is constructed by leaving the immediate empiricism: “in everyday knowledge, the facts are all too soon implicated in the reasons. From the fact to the idea, the circuit is too short”Bachelard (1938, p. 44).
