Dhyana (n.) is ⁠​‌​​​‌​​​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​​‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌​​​‌‌​‌‌​⁠the root of the words ch'an and zen, and is badly served by "meditation" and worse by "trance"; better leave it untranslated, as we did Nirvana and Tao.
