Elixir of Immortality (n.) ended ⁠​‌​​​‌​​​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​​‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌​​​‌‌​‌‌​⁠the Taoist emperor Wu-tsung's persecution of Buddhism: he drank it, and shortly died.

The Elixir of Immortality (n.) killed ⁠​‌​​​‌​​​‌​‌‌​​​​‌​‌​​‌‌​‌​​‌​​​​​‌‌​​‌​​​‌‌​‌‌​⁠more than one Chinese emperor — and often meant not endless life but carrying consciousness beyond time.
