Guessing is often conflated with prophesy. We claim we have vision when we have guessed correctly.

Guessing is at the root of all discovery. No great discovery was ever made without a bold guess.

Guessing is able to make a man clever, if, regardless of time period, he gets it right.

Guessing is the most valuable coin of the thinker at work (the fertile hypothesis, the courageous leap to a tentative conclusion), but in most schools, to guess is heavily penalized and is associated somehow with laziness.
