A Tubular boiler (n.) is ‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌the old boiler turned inside out: instead of water inside and hot gas outside, the flame runs through tubes inside the water, so that the outer shell can be heatproof and the whole thing shrinks.
