Even if I meet other Daseins who are doing nothing at all, they are still not encountered as present-at-hand. Rather (in one of the few amusing remarks in his otherwise somber book) Heidegger says that idle Daseins are encountered in an “uncircumspective tarrying alongside everything and nothing.”
