Man (n.) is a creature haunted by a vision of 'completion'.
Man (n.) is all the time outside of himself. He is self-surpassing. It is in projecting and losing himself beyond himself (i.e. Transcendentally) that he makes man to exist.
Man (n.) is condemned to be free. He did not create himself, yet he is nevertheless at liberty, and as soon as he is hurled into the world, he is responsible for everything else.
Man (n.) is, before all else, something which propels itself towards a future and is aware that it is doing so.
Man (n.) is he who first exist, encounters himself, surges up in the world, and then defines himself afterwards.
Man (n.) is, in place of God, the one being whose existence comes before its essence (idea), a being which exist before it can be defined by any conception of it.
Man (n.) is not a material object (like a table) but a pattern of values.
Man (n.) is not definable because, to begin with, he is nothing and will continue to be nothing until he becomes what he makes of himself. Man simply is.
Man (n.) is nothing else but what he purposes, he exist only in so far as he realizes himself, he is therefore nothing else but the sum of his actions, nothing else but what his life is.
Man (n.) is only when he is what he proposes to be, not what he may wish to be.
Man (n.) is that which first exist, encounters himself, surges up in the word, and defines himself afterwards.
Man (n.) is the future of man. A virgin future awaits him but in the present one is forsaken.
Man (n.) is universal not in his nature but in his condition (i.e. A prior limitations) of being in the world, such as that he must labor and that he must die. Every human purpose presents itself as an attempt either to surpass these limitations, or to widen them, or else to deny or to accommodate oneself to them.
Man (n.) is what he wills and as he conceives himself after already existing -as he wills to be after that leap towards existence.
Man (n.) is nothing else than what he makes himself,” Sartre famously stated (1958:21-22).
Man (n.) is nothing else than his project. He exists only insofar as he realizes himself.
Man (n.) is nothing else than the set of his actions, nothing else than his life.
